In a mixed bag of news, Hellboy creator Mike Mignola announced on Facebook that there will be an R-rated big screen reboot for the demonic hero, this time starring Stranger Things’ David Harbour. Awesome. Sadly though, Guillermo del Toro and Ron Perlman seem to be nowhere in sight.
Okay, here's some news--
There IS going to be another HELLBOY MOVIE.
It's going to be an R rated reboot directed by Neil Marshall (The Descent, Game Of Thrones) and staring David Harbour (Stranger Things) as Hellboy.
More news to come soon--
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Millennium is in negotiations with producers Larry Gordon and Lloyd Levin to reboot the franchise with an R-rated film. Mignola confirmed that Neil Marshall, the director of Descent who's also known for his work on Game of Thrones, has signed on to direct. There is absolutely no talk of del Toro or Perlman being involved with this new Hellboy project.
After years of waiting and many hints and promises from del Toro, it's going to be disappointing to not see him being able to follow up on it. At the same time, it's exciting to get a new Hellboy film.
