Jason Momoa is Aquaman

News today is that Variety have confirmed what everyone has been claiming to know for months - Game of Thrones and Conan actor Jason Momoa will be playing Aquaman. What comes as a slight surprise though is that he is cast in the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice film, with expectations being that he would appear in the following big DC Comics film.

Momoa has long been rumoured to be playing the King of the Seven Seas, and his casting is the newest member of the cast since Gal Gadot was confirmed as Wonder Woman way back in December 2013, and brings us one step closer to the eventual Justice League film.

Zack Snyder recently called into a Detroit radio show to defend Aquaman after the character came under fire by the shows hosts. Fans might not be too happy at the comment that Aquaman's trident could cut Superman, but we do know that he is super strong from living in some very high pressure sea depths.

The cool thing is that with Aquaman, his trident -- people don't realize this -- that could actually cut the flesh of Superman, if they came in contact. That's a thing that's in the canon. And he's super-strong, because of course, he can exist at these super-deep depths, so when he comes up here it's like he's crazy strong. … Not to say he's in my movie, or anything like that, he's just pretty badass -- he has the potential to be badass. That's all I'm saying.

Opening March 25, 2016, "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and now Jason Momoa as Aquaman.
