IM Global and publisher Rebellion have struck a deal to turn the iconic comic book character, Judge Dredd, into a live-action TV show called Judge Dredd: Mega City One. Let the hype begin!
The show is set in a future where the East Coast of the U.S. has become a crowded and crime-ridden megalopolis. It will be an drama about a team of Judges as they deal with the challenges the future-shocked 22nd century throws at them, where sugar is outlawed and all kinds of craziness goes down.
According to EW's report, the series - which will be called Judge Dredd: Mega-City One - will be "an ensemble drama about a team of Judges" and that casting will be announced at a later date. There's no word yet on where or when the series will air, however it's understood that Mark Stern - who as an executive producer on the Battlestar Galactica reboot - is serving the same role on Judge Dredd: Mega-City One.
If they can get Karl Urban on board as Dredd, reprising the role in the fantastic 2012 film 'Dredd', then it would be the greatest Judge Dredd related news in a long time. Surely it won't be long until someone starts that petition.
