Star Wars The Last Jedi

The long wait is over, Star Wars: Episode VIII has a confirmed the films title... Star Wars: The Last Jedi. With less than a year till release, the countdown has officially begun.

As for the title, it could mean so many things. That Rey is the last Jedi, which would mean Luke is retired (like Yoda... wait, do Jedi get to retire?). Luke could die. Jedi could easily be plural. Bascially, there's so many questions, not many answers and so many grammatical interpretations. Something could also be made of the use of red for the outline of Star Wars.

LucasFilm confirmed the new title in the following statement:

We have the greatest fans in this or any other galaxy. In appreciation of the fans, we wanted them to be the first to know the title of the next chapter in the Skywalker saga: STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI. The Last Jedi is written and directed by Rian Johnson and produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Ram Bergman and executive produced by J.J. Abrams, Jason McGatlin, and Tom Karnowski. Star Wars: The Last Jedi is scheduled for release December 15, 2017.

Hopefully there's some teaser footage is on the way too.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is in cinemas from 15th December 2017.
