Welcome Asrar and Latour to Wolverine and the X-Men

Many were extremely disappointed at the news that Wolverine and the X-Men was formally coming an end with issue #42. What readers did not know, or not pay attention to was the fact that Jason Aaron mentioned that his run was coming to an end. Today IGN broke the story that Wolverine and the X-Men is relaunching. To tell that story, we have to back to yesterday where this Marvel Now teaser broke. It turns out the Future, was referring to the Jean Grey school. None other than Jason Latour and Mahmud Asrar are now on the book. The title is relaunching with a new number one in March with a creative team. The project is set to formally tie into continuity with other series like Paul Cornell’s Wolverine title. IGN had some exclusive quotes from the new creative team from Latour.
As we’ve seen this first year or so of the Jean Grey School has been a hard road. As a result we’ll begin with a lot of the teachers and students sitting on the the edge of their seats just waiting for the bell to ring. For a break, for a reprieve. Some of them even want to quit. With summer in session many of them have. Those that are left are the ones who basically have no where to go.
So with that in mind, the center of it all are Quire and Evan and Idie. Kids who are among the most potentially powerful and dangerous mutants alive.These kids are Logan’s legacy, but as we’ve seen up to this point he didn’t have such a great track record with that stuff even when he was at his best. In them we could be witnessing the growth of the next GREAT team of X-Men, or the creation of the biggest threats the Marvel U will ever see. Everything we’re planning, the adventures, the threats, will reflect that journey.

We'll be keeping the basic visual design of the students and the teachers, although there will be slight variations such as what they'll be wearing when they are on missions. There'll be new students and also some new villains that you'll be seeing which are in the design process. Most importantly some of the characters have grown in age and status which leads to visual differences in them. Quentin Quire comes to mind especially who is one of the biggest players in our book.
The new number one is launching sometime in March.
