Meet the Afterlife With Archie Spiritual Successor and Witness the Return of Red Circle Comics

Archie Comics is starting to lead the pack as one of the most forward thinking companies after their rise to prominence during the past couple of years. Their rise can be directly chronicled with the Afterlife with Archie series that is currently causing a big splash among comics faithful. Thankfully, the company is looking to continue the pattern of success with a grownup take on Sabrina: The Teenage Witch. Sabrina was a sitcom and cartoon for several years. This could potentially usher in a new cult following. Archie Comics recently announced the new project at the Diamond Retailers Summit in Las Vegas. There is no creative team that has been announced on the book, nor is there even a cover or character sketches. Bleeding Cool announced the new project, and also cited that the comic will have a horror take, linking it in tone with Afterlife with Archie.
Also announced is the return of the Red Circle line of comics. The Red Circle has had more than its fair share of issues launching off the ground after the unsuccessful take of The Fox by Dean Haspiel and Mark Waid. The book had some good buzz around it, but it died out upon the actual release of the first issue. The publisher is planning to revamp characters like The Shield with a new mature take that is also going to echo some of the ideas that permeated the Afterlife with Archie line. Maybe this will be the one idea that will grab hold of the direct market.
