Kickstarter Spotlight: Must-Back UK Comic Projects - 29th July 2024
There are always numerous exciting Kickstarters underway that we love. It's challenging to limit the selection to just five, but I need to limit myself sometimes. And believe me, this is tough to do as there are so many excellent-looking comics on Kickstarter right now by creators that always deliver. So, for the end of July, we have some incredible-looking Kickstarters that showcase the fantastic talent of the UK comic scene.

Her Hardboiled Heart 1 + 2
Estelle's in trouble because Estelle IS trouble. A war of nerves across London as two spies figure out who's hunting who and why.
Her Hardboiled Heart is a neo-noir spy thriller set in a dark world of private espionage. The story follows Paul, an "Operator" tasked with watching a beautiful but troubled woman named Estelle. However, Estelle is not what she seems and soon drags Paul into a deadly game of cat and mouse across London.
The comic explores themes of trust, danger, and intrigue, with high-stakes espionage and a gripping narrative that keeps readers on the edge of their seats.

The Haunting of Grimley Manor is a horror comic series set during the London Blitz. The story follows the Neely family as they escape the horrors of war, only to find themselves facing a new evil in their temporary refuge at Grimley Manor.
This 48-page first issue introduces readers to a chilling story where the supposed safe haven turns into a nightmare, with dark forces lurking within the manor's walls. The comic is a collaboration between AfterLight Comics and Red Ego Games.

ANGEL EYES Graphic Novel and Motion Comic
An assassin finds himself pivotal to the war between heaven and hell. From the creators behind Guardians of the Galaxy and Spider-man.
Angel Eyes is a graphic novel and motion comic about Janus, a professional hitman with otherworldly employers. His actions could either prevent or cause a biblical apocalypse. The story blends metaphysical theology with creative violence and features a fast-paced action/thriller.
Fans of Good Omens, Hellblazer, Preacher, and Lucifer should enjoy this gripping tale. The project is created by notable industry figures, including Andy Lanning and Ant Williams, and offers both a 96-page physical graphic novel and an hour-long motion comic.

Pandora Presents Penny Pentagram
Penny Pentagram is back! With a brand new story in her own stand-alone comic.
Penny Pentagram follows Penny, who juggles dead-end jobs by day and solves occult mysteries by night. In this standalone issue, Penny receives a life-changing phone call that leads them on a dangerous mission to track down escaped criminals.
The story blends elements of supernatural action and mystery, featuring Penny as a mix of Buffy Summers and John Constantine. With full-colour art by Andrew Richmond and a new story arc by David Thomas, this comic promises an exciting and spooky adventure.

TechnoFreak Apocrypha
A fantastic new 80-page colour comic all set in TechnoFreak's world.
TechnoFreak Apocrypha is an 80-page colour comic set in a dystopian 31st-century London. It follows the adventures of Jon Sherlok, the last of the Technofreaks, who is part man, part machine, and possibly the smartest (and drunkest) man on the planet. Alongside his sarcastic robot cat, Maurice, and the love of his life, Loretta, Jon battles foes, rights wrongs, and saves damsels in distress, all while hanging out in pubs.
The comic promises a fun, frantic, and feline-friendly experience with contributions from renowned artists and writers.
