2000 AD Prog 2279 features the pulse-pounding finale to Judge Dredd thriller The Citadel. John Wagner and Dan Cornwell have done a cracking job with this story and we can't wait to see how it's going to end.

Elsewhere, this issue also features the winners of 2021's Thought Bubble script and art competitions as Honor Vincent and Lee Milmore collaborate on the Future Shock Relict. Definitely one to keep an eye on! Plus there are the latest instalments of Brink, Fiends of the Eastern Front and Hope.

Next week sees the return of the 2000 AD Regened takeover so the three running stories that don't finish this week will be taking a short break, returning in Prog 2281.

Sects are rife, and both the Habitat Security Division and certain journalists are investigating...

Out in the vast reaches of the universe, there are an infinite number of stories waiting to be told. These cautionary tales pass from traveller to traveller in the spaceports and around campfires on distant planets, acquiring the status of legend, their shocking ends a salutory lesson in hubris. Anything is possible in these twisted trips into the galaxy’s dark side. Abandon your preconceptions, and expect the unexpected...

Fiends of the Eastern Front: 1963
by Ian Edginton (writer) Tiernen Trevallion (artist) Annie Parkhouse (letterer)

In 1980, the diary of German soldier Hans Schmitt was discovered in Berlin, detailing events that occurred in 1941, when he encountered the terrifying vampire Captain Constanta and his Romanian platoon. But Schmitt was not the first trooper to meet Constanta — the vampire was on the Western Front too, in France in 1916. Now, in 1963, the bloodsucking creature is in East Berlin — and has just escaped Baba Yaga...
