The Virgins Embrace cover

The StokerVerse begins here! Fans of Bram Stoker should be excited and so should comic fans who have not had the opportunity to read some of his books. The Virgin's Embrace kicks things off, with Bram Stoker's great-grand-nephew Darce working on a reimagining of the original 1893 story 'The Squaw'. And look at the cover! Brilliant work.

What makes this a must-read though is that it also contains the original text of 'The Squaw' before the reimagining in graphic novel form. Bits like that just add to the magic of it.

Press Release:

The first short graphic novel in a brand-new series by AUK Studios and StokerVerse, The Virgin’s Embrace is an exciting book re-telling the original ‘The Squaw’. A short story by Bram Stoker from 1893 re-written in a modern form. A story which has been respectfully updated for a current audience. Irish author Bram Stoker, is best known for his famous 1897 Gothic horror novel, Dracula, he went on to write The Jewel of Seven Stars in 1903 and The Lair of the White Worm in 1911.

First conceptualised and brought to life by writers Chris McAuley and Dacre Stoker. Dacre Stoker is the great-grand-nephew of Bram Stoker, and illustrated by artists Jessica Martin, Robert Marzullo and Ester Cardella. Jessica Martin is a well-known actress who you may know from Doctor Who, now Jessica’s career has diversified into the art world.

The Virgin’s Embrace has re-told the original 1893 story, whilst also including short biographies of Bram Stoker, Florence Stoker, with concept art and much more. A gothic horror with a modern twist, The Virgin’s Embrace gives fans what they’ve been waiting for. Based on the short horror story, ‘The Squaw’, the story begins as an American tourist meets a couple on their honeymoon in Nuremberg. However, as darkness falls on them, “the stalking spectre of death follows the trio through the streets of the German city.” The trio are drawn to Nuremberg Castle, where the famous Iron Maiden is housed. A gruesome story aimed at frightening you like never before, ‘The Squaw’ is a story re-told for the current generation of horror enthusiasts.
