Secrets of the Unknown… ALAN CLASS is a book currently being funded on Kickstarter. It delves into the history of Alan Class, a significant figure in UK comics from 1959 to 1989. The book includes interviews, memoirs, and rare comic cover reproductions, shedding light on his contributions and the comic industry during that era.
Secrets of the Unknown… ALAN CLASS
From 1959 to 1989, Alan Class published a series of comics that were distributed throughout the UK. In 1961, Alan became the first person to obtain the rights to reprint "Fantastic Four" issue #1.
In his book, he shares the unfortunate story of what happened to the copy they provided him. Alan's comics included reprints from major US publishers such as Marvel, Atlas, ACG, Tower, and Charlton. Many collectors have fond memories of these comics, which featured countless strips across various genres.
However, for years, Alan Class's true identity remained a mystery - was he a real person or merely a publishing house name?
Now, the story can finally be told! Nick Neocleous interviewed Alan several times, and these interviews have been combined with many pages of newly written memoirs by Alan to create this book. In it, Alan discusses the challenges of publishing comics in the 1960s and beyond.
The book also provides details about all the distributors that carried his comics and debunks many false "facts" that were previously believed to be true. It also includes many full-colour cover reproductions, showcasing all his number one issues along with various rarities and oddities.
Check it out on Kickstarter today, where you can also obtain a SIGNED AND NUMBERED LIMITED EDITION of only 250 copies that have been hand-signed by ALAN CLASS himself.
