Tripwire Comics Presents: "Into White" - The Art of George Pratt
After the huge success of Sherlock Holmes And The Empire Builders, both on crowdfunding and through the direct market, Tripwire Comics Presents is building on this with its first art book, Into White: The Art of George Pratt.
Pratt is an acclaimed artist, painter and illustrator who cemented his reputation in comics on projects such as Enemy Ace: War Idyll, Batman: Harvest Breed and Wolverine: Netsuke, but in recent years has expanded his work to include figurative painting and portraits.
"Into White: The Art Of George Pratt is a 200 plus page 9 x 12 lavish paperback and hardcover, offering a cross section of the artist's unique oeuvre," Tripwire Comics Presents editor-in-chief Joel Meadows explained. "With the popularity of Holmes and thirty plus years of Tripwire celebrating artists and illustrators, this next step makes sense for us as a company."
Pratt is an artist and illustrator who once drew extensively in comics in the 1990s, but for a number of reasons, he has moved on to gallery work and to teaching at the Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida.
"He has built up an incredible body of work that includes portraiture, landscapes, figure work and also some exceptional comic work. Pratt is an artist who transcends a number of different genres and disciplines, so we felt he would be the perfect subject for our debut art book," Meadows continues.
Clocking in at 200 pages, this 9 x 12 inch hardcover with a paperback version available, this campaign offers a range of exclusive perks like unique brush and pen and ink drawings, limited prints, as well as signed plated editions of the hardcover. Also, George will be designing the book and is an artist with a real flair for design.
He has attracted prominent fans over the years too as the late great illustrator Mark English had this to say about him: "My friend, George Pratt, has it all. He has craftsmanship, draftsmanship, plus the need and the motivation to be an artist. That's what it takes. I think a serious artist is always searching for something, but rarely knows what. That "something" can't be found by just thinking, though. It's found with exploration and hard work. George is constantly drawing, painting, observing, experimenting and reaching further which is what makes him exceptional. I'm always excited to see what new ground he is breaking."
"Into White" marks a new era for Tripwire, and we are excited to share this with our supporters.
Pratt has created Enemy Ace: War Idyll and Batman: Harvest Breed for DC and Wolverine: Netsuke for Marvel, as well as having a body of work as an illustrator that stretches back several decades now.
Into White is on Kickstarter now.
