Even though the Mark Waid Hulk series has just recently launched with a new number one, Newsarama has confirmed that Gerry Duggan is taking over the series with Issue #5 coming up in August. Mark Bagley is locked in to stay on pencilling the series. The new author is launching a big story entitled ‘The Omega Hulk’, which will feature every jade giant that has ever taken on the mantle of the Hulk name. Artist Mark Bagley stated the story is going to feature “big, big action.” The outlet also had an interview with Duggan himself, detailing some of the new aspects about his take on the Hulk.

Here is Gerry Duggan on the variety of Hulk’s featured on the series.

I promise by the end of ‘The Omega Hulk,’ you will have seen not only everyone who has the word ‘hulk’ in their name but also their alter egos. Part of this is going right back to the beginning; I think the thing that always concerned Banner, and a lot of other people in the Marvel Universe, is the proliferation of gamma-irradiated powers to people and gamma weapons.

The writer explained the following on Hulk’s interaction with the Avengers.

He states, "It is fair to assume that the events of ‘The Omega Hulk’ will impact every corner of the Marvel Universe."

Finally, Duggan shares his thoughts on the collaboration process with penciller Mark Bagley.

This is a chance to work with a guy who is a legend, and rightly so. By the end of his career, Mark will hopefully have a great important run on most all of the Marvel characters. And I can’t think of another guy who has been consistently as good as Mark has.

Hulk #5 ships in August, but readers can continue to enjoy the exploits of the jade giant with the Waid series until then.
