Meredith and David Finch take on Wonder Woman after Azzarello and Chiang
Reading time: 1 minute

We all knew the landmark take on Wonder Woman with author Brian Azzarello and Cliff Chiang was soon coming to an end. Unfortunately, most were likely in denial that this special series was drawing to its conclusion so swiftly. Today, DC Comics has announced via USA Today that the run is not only wrapping with Issue #35, but both Merida and David Finch are taking on Wonder Woman at Issue #36. We knew that Finch was likely taking over the book soon, but had no idea that his wife Media was going to write the comic book featuring DC’s star heroine. Giving the title a new female perspective will likely add some personality to the interesting new series. A quote from the Finch’s gives a slight hint at what the series could be introducing next into the comic "A big part of what Meredith wants to do is write a story about a woman who is trying to take on all of those different things and try to make them all work together.” This confirms fans’ suspicions that the direction for DC’s primary female heroine is going to switch directions fairly drastically. The author also promises that the series will have a direction that is lighter than the previous material. This will likely be refreshing for fans desensitized by some of the ultra-violence occurring at the publisher.

Can Meredith and David Finch really land the new direction? The Azzarello series is likely going to be the best complete Wonder Woman tale of the past two decades or so, and the Finches have some large shoes to fill. Will DC ever land another successful take on the Amazon Princess? Find out when Wonder Woman #36 ships in November.
