Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is gearing up for an Inhumans film in a pretty major way. In fact, the show is rewriting the entire comics lore for the Marvel species. Dig into Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s 'Afterlife' with us!

SPOILERS: This is good stuff!

Coulson + Hunter = friends forever?
Coulson’s used car salesman adventure with Hunter is the best part about this episode. Seeing the (ex) director’s stun bullets are pretty awesome. The odd couple goes onto figure out that Skye has been captured by Gordon. They figure out that he doesn’t leave trails or clues. The hero triggered the alarms on purpose and is shifting what happened with Lance. The two of them plan on hijacking the quinjet with a group full of rogue agents. This is a great combat situation crafted by S.H.I.E.L.D.. Of course, the rogue version with Gonzalez knows that Coulson’s and friends triggered the alarm on purpose. The Agent is caught up with cards when his assault is being raided. The two men setup some excellent card tricks.

Gordon might be the best character on this show.
Gordon’s adventures into (???) are absolutely enthralling. Not sure why Skye has eye make up on after being captured. Skye’s entrapment from Coulson is troubling, as she immediately seeks to remove herself from the sanctuary. I am not quite sure what role that Gordon is going to play on this show. Skye is already the chosen one in the middle of S.H.I.E.L.D., and doubling down on Skye being the chosen one is really strange. Speaking of, the show is building the Diviner and obscure Kree temples into Inhumans mythology. This is a hell of a lot different from the current comics landscape, and I’m not sure how it will change the Marvel Universe. Lincoln’s interactions with Skye has a high possibility of feeling painstakingly cliche. Skye’s minor breakdown regarding having her Inhuman powers irreversible. We're now unsure of what has become of the new Reina, but of course Skye is going to yell at it. Moon Bloodgood’s character is even back on the show that has was supposedly killed by Danielle Whitehall. It’s a wonder wherever the Royal Family is now. A handler offers herself up as the new caretaker of Skye and rest of the group. The most cryptic part of the hour is why the main cast is choosing to keep the Doctor alive.

Wait, who is the real S.H.I.E.L.D.?
Agent Gonzalez’s foray with Fire and Simmons has just the right brand of witty dialogue involving cupcakes that makes this show so strong. Gonzalez recognizes that everything regarding Coulson is dangerous. Watching Gonzalez grill May is a little silly, as she tries to salvage the two of them including S.H.I.E.L.D. and Coulson. Either way, the Kree DNA is something that the group is going to be dealing with eventually. Gonzalez remarks that Coulson’s actions are leading the two of them to a “deadly showdown.” Lincoln is Cole Mcgrath, I mean...the Lincoln Lawyer...no wait, he’s just an Inhuman -- a flying Inhuman. So, from Guardians of the Galaxy we’ve seen Kree DNA look just like the characters from the comics -- but do they still the same DNA? Melinda May is offered a gun to fire against Gonzalez, but refuses the call to violence she so often takes. May is shoved into a corner and still takes charge of her own background. Gonzalez still attempts to make some sort of compromise absent. The team is notably absent of resident badass Fitz -- who went onto to find Coulson. A rogue S.H.I.E.L.D. team would suit this group well.

LAST BITS:

-What’s in the box? That’s the question on everyone’s mind with Coulson’s strange absence. More importantly, what is Simmons really doing with the box?

-The Inhuman box where the group has placed the Doctor is a really odd new way to spin the show.

-Everything Fitz has done this season to be propelled as the white knight is one of the smartest decisions ever made on this show.

-The inclusion of Deathlok is a pretty strange addition to the cast of the show. He was an example of everything bad encapsulating S.H.I.E.L.D. last season. Armed with Deathlok, the team does the impossible, and manages to get a helicarrier in the air and in motion defying all laws of...well...everything.

-Of course, the hero managed to net the real cube with a good sandwich – she’s not all bad.
