Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. had a particularly spectacular episode with last week’s installment following up on some excellent plot threads. This season continues to drive the entire show into a brand new direction following up on the strong cast of characters and interesting backstories.

SPOILERS: It’s S.H.I.E.L.D. vs. S.H.I.E.L.D. this week.

Bobbi and Mack have dug some deep holes.
Mack flashes back to the day S.H.I.E.L.D. fell and was shown how big of a part that Bobbi played in rescuing the remains of her team. Bobbi going back in the field was risky, and it’s interesting to see just how far she can actually get in infiltrating the covert organization. The action choreography is truly fantastic within this episode. Figuring out what Bobbi is after is interesting as well – what does she want with Vibranium?

What’s inside of Lola?
Coulson seems to know something about Mack. It’s already too late, as the part inside of the Lola replica has something strange within it. It’s a shame that the cover is blown so quickly. He still doesn’t quite have Bobbi in mind, who is currently infiltrating his office. Once again, it should be stated that this show blows status quotas out way too fast. We should make this drinking game. Every time S.H.I.E.L.D. blows out a good plot too soon I want you fair audience member to have a pint on us!

Give me Olmos or give me death.
The flashbacks of how Edward James Olmos’ character Robert Gonzalez formed the brand new organization is quite fascinating. Morse checks out for a suicide mission at the behest of Fury. Of course she still manages to find a way. Mack takes the opportunity to call Bobbi Barbara – I approve.

Skye + Gordon = BFFs
Skye’s forced transformation into becoming Daisy is another delightful moment on S.H.I.E.L.D.. It makes me question why she has been sentenced to this time period. The heroine also discovers that she’s trapped inside of an interrogation style hex room. The trippy horror scenes are enthralling – especially when they lead to the show’s mysterious new enemy Gordon. The character talks a good game – and may be able to recruit Skye into his world after this new status quota change. He trains Skye to embrace her new powers, and maybe thats what she can do with Gordon. He warps away, yet still presents himself as a positive force to her. Alright I’m game.

Hey Fitz, Jemma, Bobbi, Mack, and Skye let’s call the whole thing off!
Jemma pulls off an interception of Bobbi with a scene that’s pretty interesting. Fitz discovers the security breach set off from Mack, and the hour gains even more intrigue. Phil Coulson finds orders from Fury hidden away and sneaks back into the new S.H.I.E.L.D. premises. They figure out where Skye was, and find her in ‘the retreat,’ a special place built with Bruce Banner in mind. You know, for his ‘green’ problems.

???
What happens next is vague, as Coulson’s team is merged into the new S.H.I.E.L.D. program. It’s hard to believe that the cast on this show is going to get even larger than already is right now.

It’s the final showdown.
Coulson and Gonzalez have an interesting discussion with a new back-and-forth via the two of them. Everyone at the new arm of the organization keeps talking about the how Director is so unfit rule the program, yet as of this moment it’s unsure why.

Last Bits

-The Commander lobbies the Kree DNA against him, and deems Coulson and company as people that are unfit to rule.

-Of course, the director still has a failsafe in Skye and May.

-Gonzalez is looking for a way to run S.H.I.E.L.D. anew, without the secrets of Coulson.

-May proves that she knows what she’s doing and sets the man of the hour free.

-Skye is hanging out with Gordon.

-A single Lance Hunter teams up Phil Coulson to stop the bad guys – this is that fist bumping moment that I was waiting for all episode.
