Secret Wars Expands with an Extra Issue
Reading time: 1 minute

We often hear about mini-series getting canceled early, or schedules changing ever so slightly, especially when it comes to event series from Marvel and DC -- but have you ever heard of an event series adding an issue? Over at Marvel Secret Wars is adding another installment making the the title a grand total of nine-issues. According to Marvel, this will not affect anything happening in the All-New, All-Different Marvel Universe. It does make the story being told increasingly complicated as the final issue is slated for December. Invincible Iron Man #1 kicks off in October, so fans have less than a month to prep for a brand new Marvel launch. This addition means that the publisher cannot delay Secret Wars any further without interfering with the brand new launch, as the press release coming from Marvel states that Secret Wars kicks off the brand new Universe.
“This extra issue will not affect any of the new launches as part of All-New, All-Different Marvel,“ says Marvel SVP Sales & Marketing David Gabriel. “But there might be a surprise or two left over from Battleworld you weren’t expecting. In fact, like the original Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars, some of those puzzle pieces will hit the Marvel Universe before the event concludes. But if you want to see how they all fit together, you don’t want to miss these last few issues."
With the high quality and expansive tone of the mini-series this far, it’s likely that this news isn’t going to offend anyone -- the most interesting part of this story is the internal schedule at Marvel. So many of the tie-ins and individual issues of the comic have been delayed, but in the case of Secret Wars: better late than never...especially when the event comic book is this good.
