The Flash 'Who is Harrison Wells' Review: Coast City Pizza Time

Author: Alexander Jones

Reading time: 3 minutes

the flash

The Flash is heating up towards an endgame with the cast of Arrow hanging out in the background (just for kicks.) But what does Harrison Wells and the Reverse-Flash want with Barry Allen -- and what is up with this nasty pizza problem coming straight from Coast City?

Ain’t no pizza like Coast city pizza!
Coast City eh, I wonder how Carol Ferris is doing? Shout out to all you Green Lantern fans. How does Barry Allen not burn the pizza while he’s using the speed force from Coast to Central? That can’t be good...right. So...we’re like ten minutes into the episode and we’re still talking about pizza -- the characters aren’t. I don’t care what they are saying about Wells or whatever, I just love pizza.

No double negatives: meet the anti-Reverse-Flash crew!
The drama started in the previous scene with the Allen clan meeting at Barry and Joes to form their anti-Reverse-Flash crew. The rest of team Flash is having trouble tracking the mysterious batch of clones wreaking havoc on the city. Turns out that this dude has been stealing stuff since The Flash has been...well...The Flash. He might prove difficult to take down later on, but probably not.

Joe and West -- men of valor.
Joe and West and teaming up to stop the mysterious jewel thief is pretty rad, these are some of the best characters for the show -- and then Laurel comes. Watching Joe and West talk about some of their problems with their horrible daughters is a really clever moment. How could two calm and reasonable people spawn such horrible females? After finding some extremely damnable evidence. These two teaming up together are some of the best parts of the hour.

Let’s not jump to conclusions.
A woman does something deemed uncharacteristic and the team at the Detective’s office (Eddie, Barry, and Joe) immediately start thinking “clone,” what the heck? When another crime that is extremely similar ensues, maybe the Detective has a point.

Iris and Eddie, please stop!
So Iris and Eddie are still fighting. Do I care? If you’ve been reading my reviews long enough, I really hope you have developed some kind of answer regarding that question -- and have drawn your own conclusions on how Iris grinds my internal core.

Caitlin, what are you doing?
Caitlin pays Harrison a one-on-one visit to his private quarters, which, by all means is a bad move. Thankfully, Allen interrupts their meeting a little early. Dr. Snow has been acting quite odd this episode, in a manner that seems like it could lead her to some really dangerous prospects following.

Similarities or differences?
I am not sure if we’ve talked about how this show is structured just like Hannibal, but it is. The core of working together with someone monstrous and dark is what elicited these strange emotions.

NO CONTEST!
The end kind of peeters about a little in showing Barry and company the lair of Wells. It’s not a huge reveal, and the little paper teaser at the end is a bit cryptic for my tastes. So...yeah. This was an episode of The Flash that did a really good job at serving as filler for the season as a whole. It’s been a long time since the team has known about Wells and actually been able to do anything about it. The pacing is a little off right now.
