Arks Helices 2 and 3 launch together on Kickstarter at 7 PM GMT on Tuesday, October 20th, 2026. The campaign will run for two weeks and end at 7 PM on Tuesday, November 3rd. The science-faction series comes from writer Rory Collins and artist Gustaffo Vargas, published by London husband-and-wife press Clicky Sprout Wife.

Art on both books is close to finished, so Clicky Sprout Wife plans to ship in December 2026. That makes Arks Helices the first completed storyline in the wider Arks: War of Light saga. It is also the fourth book shipped by the small press this year.

That's right: end-of-time pigeon murder, ready for Christmas.

Arks Helices is set 24,000 years after the events of Arks, aboard a Dyson-class space station. The Helices is so vast it can only exist in the orbit of a dead star. Inside its O'Neill cylinders, the last of humanity hides from an enemy that has hunted it for deca-millenia. Olive "Moxy" Bluford is a 23,000-year-old bio-punk noir detective, time-traveller, corpse-pilot and sugar addict. She wakes at the end of time inside the body of a twenty-year-old single mother living on the colony below. When something starts killing Arks disguised as pigeons, Moxy learns that the ancient evil has found the Helices. Her choice is to kill 832 colonists and keep the station hidden, or solve the murder.

Issues #2 and #3 give Moxy less than an hour. She has to discover how a drone from Earth infiltrated the colony, why Jonas Lenstadt is scrubbing the A.I. clerk records, and why the monster hunting her is turning colonists into flies. Solving it means bouncing her soul back into her own corpse and finding the surviving pigeon. Fili, the son of the body she is piloting, keeps chasing her through the chaos.

Collins describes the book as "a bio-punk noir detective story set at the end of time, where the last humans are hiding in the gravity of a corpse star and someone - or something - has started killing Arks disguised as pigeons."

The series sits in what Collins calls science-faction, built from the untold futures of modern science. Its core idea is Directed Panspermia, the hypothesis that microorganisms could be carried between habitable worlds to seed life. From that comes Pattern State Insertion, a technology that lets human beings jump between machines, people and planets. "No spaceships, no light speed, no cryo pods," Collins says. "Just bacteria and A.I. in a probe the size of a pencil."

The campaign offers Arks Helices 2 and 3 as separate books within the same Kickstarter. Backers can take #2 on its own, #2 and #3 together, or catch up with the full #1-3 trilogy. Add-ons, digital and print bundles, companion books, stickers and polyptychs are also available. A newsletter launch offer runs until midnight on Sunday October 25th, with discounts on the comic and digital bundles and a limited-run A5 art print. Subscribers also receive a free digital copy of Arks Proximan #1.

The prelaunch page for Arks Helices 2 and 3 is live now, and the newsletter sign-up is on the Clicky Sprout Wife site.
