Arks Proximan #2 is heading to Kickstarter on April 21st. The bio-punk odyssey from the team behind Arks shows no sign of slowing down. This second issue goes deeper into one of indie comics' most inventive science-faction worlds. It's written by Rory Collins and Natalie Malla, with art by Andrew Morris.

A dying boy must cross 7,483 miles of radioactive wilderness. His tidally locked exoplanet holds the only hope of resurrecting his parents… while his backpack feeds on him and his animals.

The groundbreaking sci-fi series Arks returns with Arks Proximan #2. Rory Collins wrote Children of Men, The Bourne Ultimatum, and Never Let Me Go. Natalie Malla is known for Taboo. Together with artist Andrew Morris, they deliver another chapter of the bio-punk odyssey.

The issue will launch alongside an unusual companion book: Burp: The Reclamation Bag. It explores the real science behind the strange biotechnology seen in the story.

The Story

In Arks Proximan #2, Audie and Anna-Mae Bluford are dead. Their colony on Proxima has been destroyed. It all happened because their son Odd pinched a girl - the messenger they found in a beam of light.

But as Odd shelters from radioactive fallout in a cave with his A.I. companion Stella, they uncover the truth.

The girl was not a messenger.

She was a bomb sent from Earth.

Now they have only one option.

Odd must set out on a desperate mission across the irradiated surface of Proxima B. His goal: find a Synth Well on the far side of the exoplanet. There, he hopes to find bacteria that can resurrect copies of his parents.

The journey will take the rest of Odd's childhood. The cancers he'll develop along the way will likely kill him.

Luckily, he'll not be alone.

Odd travels with a herd of transplanted animals, two frogs, and a snake-like A.I. He also has Burp - a grotesque, burping backpack. It keeps him alive by recycling his own skin and faecal matter.

To survive the 7,483 miles of radioactive wilderness, Burp will have to eat him. The animals. Everything.
