Kickstarter Spotlight: Zip issue 4: superhumans as an analogy for disability
Reading time: 2 minutes
Zip issue 4 is the latest chapter in the grungy, British black-and-white comic series that dives deep into the subtle, often-overlooked forms of prejudice. The kind that is passive and quiet, which is fuelled by ignorance and apathy, rather than the more traditionally understood motivation of hatred.
With Zip issue 4, we're now past the halfway mark towards the first collected trade paperback, published by Markosia. Kickstarter is vital to funding new issues: read on to find out why you should be a part of it!

The story so far
Civilisation was never built for superhumans. Yet, all the while, they have lived within it. Unnoticed and marginalised, they resorted to acts of heroism to find a sense of purpose in a society that seemed to have no place for them.
ZIP is among these heroes. Her superior speed makes the rest of the world appear as if it moves in slow motion. It makes fighting crime easy, but living a normal life a desperate dream.
★★★★★ "Zip is going to be an enlightening, thrilling ride." - Zip #1 review, at Comic Book News UK.

If you've not read Zip before, you can get the Zip series through the Kickstarter campaign. There are bundle reward tiers that let you get every issue made to date. Alternatively, there's a reward tier that lets you get a deal on Zip #1. You can then try the series without the commitment of our higher tiers.
The series is written so that, although there is a larger story arc, each individual issue tells a self-contained story. So if you're a long-standing reader, you'll get more from the experience. It's just that it's not necessary to read every issue to understand what's happening!
Zip issue 4
A sci-fi crime drama based on real testimonials of an ex-convicted murderer, but with a time travel twist! After her latest battle, Zip attends the funeral of a fallen comrade. There, she reconnects with the wider superhuman community, which she has been isolated from for so long.
Meanwhile, Pinstripe and Dogsbody, the two mysterious lab technicians stalking Zip, are up to something strange again. Their latest experiment is likely to cause chaos when a teenager out for blood gets caught in the crossfire.
The comic was written by Mike Scrase, illustrated by San Espina, and lettered by Ferran Delgado.
