Reading time: 4 minutes

It's been a while since we've taken a look at a bunch of Kickstarter projects in one go, but it's time to bring it back. So welcome back to another round of looking at five currently funding Kickstarter comics that we love.

It's always a tough choice to narrow it down, but if we get back to doing this weekly or fortnightly, then there's a good chance that we don't miss any cracking comics that deserve some extra attention.

Harker - The Black Hound Part Two

Harker - The Black Hound Part Two

Time Bomb Comics' latest Kickstarter is Harker part two, which is actually the fourth book in this thrilling crime series. Harker is a unique homage to classic tv detective shows, filled with humour, wit, adventure and mystery.

Don't worry if you missed out on part one, as you can get that through this campaign too.

DCI Harker is enjoying a holiday in Whitby, and the last thing he wants is to be drawn into solving a murder. So when a famous novelist is killed right in front of him, he decides he's a suspect and relaxes on the dodgems. DS Critchley, however, needs his help, especially when another body washes in with the tide. Who is the murderer, what does it have to do with this spooky old coastal town, and how does it involve the huge dog seen on the Moors?

Avery Hill Publishing Spring 2023 Line

Avery Hill are offering three exciting new books with their latest Kickstarter - Pet Peeves by Nicole Goux, Macbeth by K. Briggs, and Big Ugly by Ellice Weaver.

Pet Peeves - In this horror graphic novel, the new dog that aspiring musician Bobbie has adopted
is cute but also stealing her life.

Macbeth - A vivid graphic novel adaptation of Shakespeare's Macbeth. Faithful to the original text while providing a new lavish rendition.

Big Ugly - Work, health, family - Mel feels like her life is just circling endlessly as she begins to renew her relationship to her brother in this vibrant graphic novel.

As this is Avery Hill Publishings ten year anniversary, there are also some special items you can grab as well through the campaign. Items like an anniversary bundle made up of a set of ten books that mark key moments in their decade of publishing. All of those books are brilliant!

Shadows: Sci-Fi Horror Comic Book

Shadows: Sci-Fi Horror Comic Book

Shadows, by Aaron Rackley, was originally a four-part story told in the pages of an All-Ages magazine called The Spark. Now brought back to life and retold for a more mature audience in a collected A5 format. The first issue in a new series of stand-alone comics that are all set in the collective Spark Universe.

Sector A, a covert arm within the UUA (Universal United Alliance - a joint venture of 8 intelligent races from across the Universe who have banded together for the joint protection and goal of exploration of the cosmos), hides in the shadows and cleans up the messes that the UUA has created or found.

Unfortunately for someone, they're about to be thrown into becoming a member of Sector A.

The Safe House #1

Afterlight Comics never disappoints, so their new series, The Safe House, is one we can't wait for.

After losing his job, Ryan turns to a long-time friend to help get him back on his feet so he can provide for his young family. After a deal goes bad, Ryan finds himself in the wrong place at the wrong times, and a series of events leads him to witness a brutal murder. With no other choice but to protect his family, he seeks help, and they are moved in to witness protection until the perpetrators are found and arrested.

The trauma of the events that unfolded begins to take its toll on Ryan and his relationship with his partner, leading Ryan down a dark path of exploring his PTSD of what truly happened that fateful night.

Plainer Jane, The FINAL issue

The final issue! Plainer Jane is coming to a close, and this makes us sad. It's been a great ride and has led us to the final issue, with hopes soaring!

In issue six, Jane came up against the feared villain Tougard, finally realising that the hitman business is played for even bigger stakes than she ever realised. With the police closing in on one side and The Nexus closing in on the other, Jane is left with a simple choice. Fight, or run? Whatever she chooses to do, not everyone will survive.

With no training or special skills, just her own cunning, brutality, and fearlessness, Jane leaves a trail of bodies behind her. Ultimately going head to head with the feared and secretive criminal gang, The Nexus, in a war that could ultimately cost her life and the lives of everyone she loves.
