More on Constantine Returning on Arrow

It was confirmed this week that Matt Ryan would appear on Arrow as John Constantine, the character he played on the short lived, but enjoyable, Constantine TV show. New details have emerged via TVInsider about just what that crossover will entail, and unfortunately for fans of Constantine it will only be a one time deal. Read more below for what executive producer Marc Guggenheim had to say about the deal.
"We are super-crazy excited about this. Each year on the show, we have added and expanded the mythology with different elements. In Season 2 we introduced the idea of superpowers, last year brought in the League of Assassins, and for Season 4, we always had a plan to introduce magic and mysticism. We were already swimming in those waters and that's why Constantine is this great organic little development."

How will Constantine fit into the Arrow world? Well, we saw the Lazarus Pit in season three helping to bring Thea back from the brink of death and we know that for Legends of Tomorrow Sara Lance is brought back to life through the Pit. And that is exactly where Constantine fits in, as unlike Thea, Sara is something entirely different - " the consequences of using the pit on someone as dead as Sara was creates some unforeseen difficulties...and John Constantine is uniquely suited to help our team deal with those." She might look good to go in Legends of Tomorrow, but she clearly won't be okay when she's resurrected, which is something that was mentioned in Arrow season three just before Oliver dunked Thea into the Pit.
The one time deal? Guggenheim praised DC for being so "magnanimous and generous in giving us this one-time dispensation." And as the two shows share a studio (Warner Bros.), Arrow has been able to secure not just the original actor, but his original outfits as well. "The trench coat, the tie, the shirt... the whole wardrobe is being taken out for storage and shipped up to Vancouver." John Badham, who was a director on Constantine.
