SKRAWL #3 Kickstarter: SKRAWLLORDZ Reunite for New Issue

After a four-year hiatus, SKRAWL #3 marks the Comix magazine's return to Kickstarter. The UK-based SKRAWLLORDZ have once again assembled an outstanding team of guests. Their signature devil-may-care magazine features comics, illustrated prose, and a special guest interview.
Meet the SKRAWLLORDZ
Since the group formed at Licaf 2019, each SKRAWLLORDZ member has forged their own path in the comics world. They meet in a virtual studio (hoity-toity for "have a WhatsApp group") to build ideas and share industry knowledge. They also push each other to grow as creators.
The roster includes Gustaffo Vargas (Altiplano; Olympus: Nullhunter; Power Rangers: GREEN) and Russell Mark Olson (Gateway City; The Phantom; 2000AD). It also includes Martin Simpson (Rasp; Nord; Hellraiser) and Pete Taylor (Catfood Comics, This Ink Runs Cold, Aces Weekly). Rounding out the group are Mark Huges (Catfood Comics, graffiti artist) and Nick Prolix (Slang Pictorial). They've used the SKRAWL banner to experiment within the medium and collaborate with other creators. This has let them interview notable Comics figures and celebrate the 9th art.
Not Just an Anthology
The SKRAWLLORDZ make it clear that SKRAWL is not an anthology. "SKRAWL is a magazine. We all grew up with traditional print mags, which, even at their niche-est subject focus, would be made up of essays, articles, reviews, interviews, editorials… whatever the magazine's editor felt their readers would be interested in. That's the publishing ethos we have for SKRAWL," insists magazine quasi-editor, Olson.
The first two issues of the magazine included interviews with Roger Landgridge and Shelly Bond, as well as prose from Leah Moore and John Reppion, with illustrations by Owen Sherwood and Lucy Sullivan respectively.
This issue welcomes an illustrated essay from Tom Humberstone (Suzanne; I Know the Way Out). It also features a poetry accompaniment by Phil Breach (North) for an illustration by artist Zé Burnay (Andromeda). Taylor will sit down with Alison Sampson to talk about her celebrated career for a long-form interview.
SKRAWL #3's comics contributions come from up-and-comers all the way through to celebrated pros:

- Dominica Claribelle (Finding Home)
- Matthew Hardy (Cyberarchy; Thunder Child)
- Olivia Sullivan (Oracles)
- Shane Oakley (Mister X; Albion)
When asked if more issues of SKRAWL are in the pipeline, Olson responded, "Maybe. The door is always open. It's all about getting our schedules to align. But there are tons of other creators that we'd like to work with. Watch this space."
SKRAWL #3 is currently funding on Kickstarter until the 14th of August. Publication is estimated for November of this year, and expected to debut at Thought Bubble. The first two issues of the magazine are available digitally or in limited physical copies through the crowdfunding campaign.
