DC Thomson have a much-anticipated and eagerly awaited book available to order online - The Art Of Ian Kennedy, celebrating 70 years of Ian Kennedy's illustrious career at DC Thomson. Kennedy is a comics master who produces some absolutely amazing art, and DC Thomson Media's Heritage Comics team are proudly giving fans the first-ever "Art of" book dedicated to this master of the comics medium.
Kennedy has worked with the DC Thomson for 70 years, beginning his career in the companies art department back in 1949, making him the longest serving illustrator for the Scottish based publisher. Since then, he has contributed to many of their comics, such as Commando, Britain's longest-running war comic, Starblazer, Hotspurand and many more.
Even more impressive is that Kennedy has created over 1,250 Commando covers, which continue to be very popular amongst readers.
The art book showcases Ian's fantastic array of work for not only DC Thomson Media but also his own personal collection. Priced £40, the high spec 160-page art book includes both never before seen and classic covers, as well as illustrations from the DC Thomson archives, featuring titles as diverse as Lucky Charm and Buddy.
The official launch is the 25th April 2019 in Dundee, however if you were lucky enough to be at Dunfermline Comic Con on Saturday 30th March 2019, you could have got your hands on it early as well as getting it signed by the man himself. You can pre-order it at the DC Thomson shop online before the official launch and it is being recommended to all those who have a subscription.
