Former Judge Kyle Asher has returned to Mega-City One after serving twenty years in a penal colony on Titan. Despite working as a third-class sludge technician, he is determined to prove that he can still serve the city he once swore an oath to.

However, Judge Dredd is sceptical of Asher's intentions and questions whether a penitent man can truly exist in a place like Mega-City One. Meanwhile, the SJS, the Judges Internal Affairs division, are determined to run Asher out of town, and Dredd wants to know the reason why.

Widely acknowledged as one of the best current writers on the legendary and long-running Judge Dredd, Kenneth Niemand is joined by artist Tom Foster, who, since winning the 2000 AD talent search in 2013, has gone on to become a fan favourite - with a style that combines the meticulous inking of Brian Bolland and the noir stylings of Howard Chaykin.
