Windlesham's Folly Live on Kickstarter: A Wyrd Turn Finale in Comic Form

Windlesham's Folly is live on Kickstarter now. The book is a 24-page black-and-white illustrated transcript of the final episode of A Wyrd Turn, Cassandra Oakes' folklore podcast. Its goal is £250, and the campaign runs until Thursday 17th September.
Windlesham's Folly comes from Daniel Bell. His back catalogue includes the folk horror comic The Ferryman and an adaptation of Arthur Machen's The Great God Pan. He has also published Joanna Fisher & the Golden Idol and The Fingers of Famhairstone.
The source material needs little introduction for some readers. On 3rd September 2008, the last episode of folklore podcast A Wyrd Turn appeared on Oakes' website with no promotion behind it. It went viral. Listener numbers were large for the period, and the recording has since become part of British folklore in its own right.
Most people file Windlesham's Folly under hoax, and the comparison to the 1992 BBC special Ghostwatch comes up often. A stubborn minority still believe that what Oakes captured in the woods that night was real.
About the Book
On 3rd September 2008, the final episode of the Folkloric Podcast A Wyrd Turn was uploaded to Cassandra Oakes' website with little fanfare; it quickly went viral, amassing a massive (for the time) number of listeners, and has since become a part of British folklore itself.

I distinctly remember where I was and what I was doing when I listened to the final episode of A Wyrd Turn. It was a summer evening back in July of 2020, and I was sitting at my kitchen table hard at work inking my Folk Horror comic The Ferryman. I had been listening to all the previous episodes of Cassandra Oakes' folklore podcast as I had worked on The Ferryman, and it had been somewhat of an influence on the tone and premise of the book.
Unaware and completely unprepared for this notorious Windlesham's Folly episode, I was captivated and baffled by what I heard, but Cassandra's words have stuck with me ever since.
This work is a 24-page, black-and-white illustrated transcript of the final episode of A Wyrd Turn. It is Bell's attempt to come to terms with what may or may not have happened to Cassandra Oakes. The recording was made in the woods behind the small town of Windlesham in 2008.
The campaign runs until Thursday 17th September and has a relatively low goal of £250. At the time of writing, it has already passed its funding goal. Check it out on Kickstarter now.
