Will the Avengers vs X-Men flop?

In April 2012 Marvel will be having another big story arc, but this won't be about either the Avengers or the X-Men. It'll be about both of them! "The Avengers and X-Men have learned that the all-powerful embodiment of both death and rebirth known as the Phoenix Force is on a crash course for Earth...and it needs a new host to unleash its immeasurable power. But what is the shocking decision tied to the Phoenix's return that will pit the Avengers against the X-Men? And when good friends become bitter enemies, what does this mean for the future of the Marvel Universe?"

One worrying thing is the amount of guys writing this story. They're all good writers that have done some massive selling stories but I can't help but think that too many on one story will bring this down instead of being one of the top stories of the year in fans eyes (not selling wise). Brian Michael Bendis, Jason Aaron, Jonathan Hickman, Ed Brubaker and Matt Fraction are the writers on this series. Is there really a need for 5 top writers on one story arc? But then I guess we have the side stories to get though as well.

What will make this for me though is how it looks. John Romita Jr., Olivier Coipel and Adam Kubert are down to be the artists on this which again begs the question of how they are going to use them. One does the main and the other two work on the side stories? Do they do two or three comics of the main story arc each? Personally I can't stand it when the art changes part way through a story as it changes how you view things. John Romita Jr. and Olivier Coipel are both very good artists so I'm happy with their choice but I'm not too sure on Adam Kubert as the guy has different styles and while some look good for covers, others just don't do it for me as his drawing can look very cartoony. Kubert is a good artist though don't get me wrong, I honestly like some of his work, but I hope his style doesn't ruin the story.

Will The Avengers Vs X-Men flop? Depends on how the writing team can get on together and how they do the art and I really hope that they pick one artist like John Romita Jr. to just work on the main story instead of changing the art every other comic.
