Arrow get's a mask

Well it looks like Oliver Queen is bored of the face paint in Arrow as a new picture released today shows him with a mask under the hood. We have until December until it's seen on TV though. Why the change though? Well one of the reasons, according to executive producer Andrew Kreisberg, is that it will allow him to interact with his allies better when donning the hood as it's getting harder and harder to constantly keep his face hidden.
It's nothing new to fans of Green Arrow though, as he's not always had a hood in the comics. In his more Robin Hood looking days he had a similar mask to the one that will be used in Arrow. In fact, in the New 52 he's using the mask and hood. So it's really no surprise at all that Stephen Amell's character evolves to become not just a hero, but a masked hero.
We'll have to wait until December for it, and it's not just going to be a change. There's a whole story and good reason for it apparently which just makes the change even better. Here's a quote from Kreisberg to Entertainment Weekly about how it comes about:
“He doesn’t just put on a mask. It’s actually a big plot point in an episode, and there really is a story behind, not only the need for the mask but also who provides him with it. It’s going to be a little bit of a surprise, and once they see how the mask comes into creation, I think people will be really excited about it.”
