The Hollywood Reporter claims that the CW Network is moving forward with plans for a Green Arrow TV series after ordering the pilot. Green Arrow, based on the DC Comics' character Oliver Queen, a wealthy playboy to rival Bruce Wayne who at night dresses almost like Robin Hood to save who ever needs saving with his vast array of arrows. The series will be a modern retelling of the character by "Green Lantern" screenwriters Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim and "Fringe" co-executive producer Andrew Kreisberg.

Some bad news for Green Arrow fans though is that the story will be set in a new world with an original story that is not based on the comics. Talk has been rife of a lone series for Green Arrow since he became a popular character on Smallville where he became a prominent figure in the series. Unfortunately, Justin Hartley isn't attached to the new series which is a shame as I thought he was excellent in that role and it would certainly have brought over fans of Smallville to the Green Arrow series.
