A pilot has officially been ordered for Constantine by NBC yesterday. David Goyer is locked in as executive producer for the first episode, which is set to be written by Dexter alumni Daniel Cerone. The show follows the character John Constantine (originally created in 1985 by Alan Moore and Steve Bissette) as he battles evil supernatural forces.

Unfortunately, Steve Bissette revealed on Facebook that he is not being paid royalties for using the character.

This option [for a TV series] apparently rolled out of the already-paid-for option for the Constantine movie in the 1990s. Thus, we'll only see [money] way down the road, it appears, if this series makes it to being a series. If it makes money. If it trickles down.
