Arrow "Unchained" Review: What did I just watch?

Roy Harper returns to Arrow in this week's episode entitled "Unchained." Maybe this one will redeem itself after last week's episode sent me into a free-form rage spiral in the handling of Felicity's current frayed psyche.

Spoilers for Arrow's "Unchained" below:

We're given the first tease of Vixen in the live action universe within Nanda Parbat to kick the hour off. Nyssa Al-Ghul is more than a little bit pissed at the different characters who have taken over management in Parbat as of late. On the way to Ghul's quest lies Katana when the two get wrapped up in a sword fight.

That storyline alone was when I knew this episode was going to be nothing but batshit crazy.

Also, let's get something straight here, Felicity is never going to be dealt with in a completely satisfying manner regarding her spine shattering moment. Arrow doesn't have the time and the show doesn't care enough to deal with this story in a satisfying manner.

Felicity is now back to work like literally nothing happened, in fact, she seems even happier than before. It's good to know this show is predictable. Felicity finally sees some limited psychological hurdles with her not being able to sustain a good presentation during the actual show.

Finally, we have Felicity capping off the episode with a strictly PG plot thread about how she has to overcome hew issues in the wheelchair poised to give a major presentation. Of course, Felicity has dealt with all her spine-shattering problems.

SERIOUSLY, OLIVER IS STILL RUNNING FOR MAYOR?

Also, as I made mention in my Flash review earlier this week -- it's completely hilarious that Oliver is even making mention of his campaign. Also, Felicity is already discussing somehow being able to own up to the company. I love Felicity directly addressing all the craziness that has spawned out of the show with all the shocking returns and strange deaths.

Also, it seems that Damien Darhk's wife is running for Mayor of Starling City -- we've seen this before...

Face the music and the perpetual Arrow flashbacks.

The flashbacks finally feel slightly more relevant than usual, as we've sort of hit the bag dramatic crux of the season that might have been hidden up until now. Now, Shado is back... or is she. Scratch that -- I take away all the nice things I said. The scenes with Oliver and Shado are both disgusting and horrific -- filled with awful on-the-nose dialogue and horrible acting from both parties.

Calculating my Arrow disdain.

This storyline with the calculator is beyond silly, adding a completely unneeded freak-of-the-weak element to the plot thread is distracting. The worst part about all of this is that we don't even have the time to really focus on the calculator plot thread with the rest of the show spinning out these insane plot threads.

Let's talk about Thea.

I really don't understand what the fuck is going on with Thea, or to make this a little more clear -- I just don't care.

Done.

If the show wasn't moving at nine billion miles an hour, the emotional moments with characters like Thea and Roy as well as Felicity and her meeting might actually fucking land instead of feeling like a ridiculous by product of ridiculousness that is attempting to elicit some sort bizarre emotional response from me.
