Thor #1 Preview: Norse Awesomeness
Reading time: 1 minute

Jason Aaron’s Thor run has been one of the most respectful and interesting takes on the nature of the God of Thunder since John Michael Straczynski’s tenure on the title. Similarly to how Straczynski put Asgard into Oklahoma during his tenure on the Thor book, Jason Aaron is now getting his chance to switch up the continuity of the comic. The author is doing so with a little more gusto and a new number #1 to boot. The new Thor #1 features an unidentified female on the front cover for the series. Speculation is running wild as to who could possibly be under the guise of this new heroine. The possibilities are endless, due to how expansive the mythos of Thor is. There are countless different directions that Aaron could take the series. A small preview of the comic was released today that shared a Thor that is very different from the one that we are used to. The Son of Odin is seen begging at his knees trying to pick up his faithful Mjölnir. After hearing the words spoken to him by the original Nick Fury at the end of Original Sin, the hero has been deemed unworthy. This will likely add another interesting component to the mythos of Thor that Aaron will be able to mine for much potential reaching further down the line. Another interesting fact about this new comic was how the author has been saying that this is another facet of his Thor world.
Aaron stated the following in regards to Thor #1 in the back of Thor: God of Thunder #25, “It’s the same story. The same direction in which I’ve always been moving. The same characters and settings. The same stakes and tone.”
Thor #1 ships this Wednesday, October 1st and features art by Russell Dauterman. Check back to CBN UK for our review of Issue #1. CBR put up the preview here.
