Video games and The Walking Dead have had a pretty interesting relationship thus far. While the actual shooter game created for the franchise known as The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct left gamers bored and uninterested, The Walking Dead title from Telltale Studios intrigued gamers left and right with a less interactive setup. However, players are still looking for something a little bit different in regards to the franchise with more of an interactive experience built in the game. That’s where developer Overkill is going to create a new Walking Dead game that finally comes into play. Heck, it’s the name of this article!
Payday 2 was a game that shooter fans thoroughly embraced, and with a new co-operative zombie shoot fest that they can enjoy next, fans of that shooter will definitely find something to love in this upcoming game. The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman utilized his Skybound Image line to launch this next big game franchise through The Walking Dead umbrella. He had the following to say capturing his excitement regarding the big game:
I'm a huge fan of what Overkill and Starbreeze have been able to do with Payday 2. It's just an amazing cooperative game, explained Kirkman in the trailer seen below. Because of everything they've done, how cool that game is, I'm super excited to announce that Skybound is partnering with Overkill to do a Walking Dead game, and I'm happy to say that it's the co-op game that all The Walking Dead fans have been waiting for.
The trailer is sparse, only featuring a new version of the intro theme music to the television show, the new logo, and Kirkman addressing the screen. Based on the pedigree of the studio alone, there is plenty of cause to be excited about the upcoming game.
CBR announced the news.
