Wolverine Has 3 Months To Die!

Wolverine has been thrown the ringer lately, as Marvel has recently given the character his morality back. The publisher has revealed that they are taking this storyline one step further and giving Logan 3 Months to live. Each month the story will count down until there are no months to live! If that sounds slightly vague, thats because it is. Wolverine #8-12 by Paul Cornell is housing a big storyline kicking off 3 Months To Die. The tale is set to ship over 5 issues in three months. It will end in September. The first couple were revealed to be drawn by rising Marvel star Kris Anka. Wolverine #8 also sports a very enticing Steve McNiven cover.
CBR broke the news this morning and had an interview with Mike Marts, X-Men group editor of Marvel comics. He gave the following statement on the series.
The set-up was brilliant, I thought -- taking away Logan's healing factor, the one thing that makes him so special and sets him apart from every single other mutant, and has almost made this character immortal. You strip that away, and a lot of people think, "Marvel's taking a huge risk doing this. It's the one element that defines this character." We decided to be brave, and push it to the limit, and see what we can get out of this. Stripping away the healing factor is going to open up Logan to a huge arena of pain.
And we're not messing around with the title. "3 Months to Die." We are going to fully explore Wolverine's mortality, what that means to him, what that means to the X-Men, what it means to the Marvel Universe -- and we're not going to be shy. We're not going to be nervous about what storylines we might decide to pursue here.
As you can see, this setup is really vague, Wolverine recently went to hell under the tenure of Jason Aaron in 2011. That story had little ramifications, even if it was very entertaining. Will this big risk in the main Wolverine title pay off appropriately? Will Logan actually die again?
