So...Who lived through The Flash Season 1: SPOILERS for Things that Haven't Aired Yet!

It seems that CW’s The Flash (we just finished renewing the first season yesterday) has already revealed some key information about next year. Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg has announced who lives and dies for next season via other outlets.
SPOILERS for The Flash season 1 and possible season 2 SPOILERS
Poor Eddie.
To Entertainment Weekly, Kreisberg explained that Eddie Thawne, played by Rick Cosnett is one of the few cast members this year that will (probably) remain dead. Thawne shot himself in last night’s finale in order to wipe out the Thawne bloodline and erase Eobard Thawne from existence. The Executive Producer went onto mention the following last words about Eddie: “One of the sad, surprising things about the finale is that for all the good that Barry does, in the end it’s Eddie who saves the day."
What of Cavanagh?
Eobard Thawne/Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh) seems to have a different fate. "Tom Cavanagh will continue to be a regular on Flash is all I am prepared to say," said Kreisberg. In fact, there is also news that the man who played the real face of Thawne on-screen Matt Letscher will be returning to the show: "On Flash, you’ve never seen the last of anybody, no matter what happens to them"

While it’s great to have the excellent Tom Cavanagh return to the show in any capacity -- I really hope that the actor doesn’t come back as Eobard Thawne. Since Cavanagh originally was supposed to play Harrison Wells, he could come back as a virtuous, but arrogant scientist that seeks redemption from Barry and friends. To this day, we haven’t met the real Wells who has a reputation to redeem. As for Cosnett’s Eddie, he consistently got the short end of the stick in this show, and if he really is gone, I’m happy that he managed to go out like a hero.
If dead isn’t dead, what does it mean to be dead?
Also, with the last quote from Kreisberg on The Flash bringing nearly everyone back to life -- the show has a tremendous responsibility on it’s hands. It’s up to The Flash not to squander it’s own potential and turn into Arrow season 3, which took a really dark turn in reviving characters within the same episode with a mad fury. It’s up to the show to tread carefully after this excellent season, and also be careful to not bring Thawne back too early -- even if we definitely need him back at some point in the remaining lifespan of The Flash.
