Inhibit: Book One Coming to Kickstarter
Reading time: 2 minutes
We love a good comic Kickstarter and it's become a popular way for people to get their comics made and sold, providing the funding target is met. One of the other plus sides is that there are a lot of superb webcomics that would make good comics/graphic novels, and turning them from a webcomic into something paper based can give a feeling of accomplishment and that all the hard work has been worth it. It's why we're excited to see another webcomic coming to Kickstarter.
Inhibit: Book One is launching on Kickstarter on January 28th, which collects the first give chapters of the sci-fi webcomic by Eve Greenwood. Set to last 30 days, the aim is to raise £4500 for 200+ pages of story with exclusive concept art added. A range of rewards are available, but he main one is that the book will cost £20 plus shipping.
Check out the press release below along with a look at some of the pages.
As a kid, Victor dreamed of training to be a superhero. That didn't go so well. Seeking a fresh take on the whole "teenagers with superpowers" thing, Inhibit: Book One is launching on Kickstarter on January 28th to bring the first five chapters of the urban sci fi webcomic to print.
Nine years ago, Victor eagerly joined the UK's most esteemed superpower training centre. Now approaching his 18th birthday, he's been kicked out and transferred to a facility for kids who can't control their powers. Despite a rocky record, he is given one last chance to receive his licence and go home to a normal life. But when he most needs things to go smoothly for once, everything starts to go wrong, and he finds himself tangled in the plot of a mysterious arsonist. Inhibit is a young adult, urban sci fi comic about growing up and being afraid to leave home. If you like teenage angst, unsettling government organisations, being gay, committing crimes, and expressions that break every law of physics, you might like Inhibit!
Readers will be able to preorder copies of Inhibit: Book One on Kickstarter starting from January 28th at 5pm GMT. The campaign will last 30 days, aiming to raise £4500 (~$5800). The book will contain 200+ pages of story, with exclusive concept art in the back. As well as books, backers will be able to receive a PDF versions of the book, sticker sheets, Kickstarter-exclusive prints from guest artists, charms, and even opportunities for commissions and cameos. Further rewards will be available as stretch goals. Book price will be £20 (~$25) plus shipping.
Inhibit is created by Scottish writer and artist Eve Greenwood, who began publishing the comic online in January 2014 at http://inhibitcomic.com. Eve graduated from the University of Dundee in November 2018 with a Masters of Design in Comics & Graphic Novels and has received attention for their colourful characters and dynamic art style. Eve's other works include Deadinburgh, a short comic about a cyborg ghost-hunter in a (slightly) futuristic Edinburgh, and Orange Plates, a metaphorical autobiographical comic about coming to terms with one's queer identity.
