Sarah McIntyre Workshops Offered As Part of Upcoming LITTLE LICAF

The Lakes International Comic Art Festival is rolling out more details of its Little LICAF programme that’s part of its virtual Festival, LICAF LIVE, this October. With events aimed squarely at younger comic readers and art lovers, the LITTLE LICAF team have just announced they will be joined in their work promoting comics and art by the smashing Sarah McIntyre, co-creator of Oliver and the Seawigs, with Philip Reeve, and so much more.
Announced on the new dedicated LITTLE LICAF Facebook and Instagram accounts, LICAF is offering educators the opportunity to engage with youngsters in a special selection of pre-release material ahead of the Festival – including two workshops that will be run by Sarah.
LITTLE LICAF want to give teachers, pupils and home educating families a chance to engage, enjoy and educate through the world of comics. Award-winning illustrator and writer Sarah McIntyre should need no introduction to readers of this news. Always a distinctive presence at events in her pointy glasses and amazing hats, sometimes she writes and draws picture books and comics herself, including including Grumpycorn and Don’t Call Me Grumpycorn; sometimes she illustrates books for other people, including Giles Andreae, Alan MacDonald, Gillian Rogerson, Anne Cottringer and Claire Freedman.
Her latest chapter book with Philip Reeve, Kevin and the Biscuit Bandit, the third book in their co-authored Roly-Poly Flying Pony series, launches next month from Oxford University Press.
(The last time Reeve and McIntyre appeared as guests at LICAF, they featured Pugs of the Frozen North).
Among other strings to her bow, Sarah’s also an Ambassador for the charity called Read for Good, which helps schools to run fundraising Readathons. Most of the money the kids raise goes into buying clean, new books and book trolleys for children in hospital, and 20% of if it goes back into buying books for their school libraries.

In addition to the virtual events in October, LITTLE LICAF recently announced support from BEANO comic and is also currently running a “Biographic” competition for kids with top British cartoonist Steve McGarry.
