The Chefs Of Death Graphic Novel Launches On Kickstarter
Reading time: 2 minutes
The Chefs of Death Graphic Novel is now live on Kickstarter. It collects all three issues of the hit British photo-strip comic into one 242-page edition. It's inspired by Doomlord, the classic 1980s Eagle comic strip by John Wagner and Alan Grant. The series launched in November 2023. It was so successful that over five or six people demanded a sequel! That led to a second issue in June 2024. The third and final issue of the mini-series was released in July 2025. This collected edition also includes exclusive bonus content.

All three super-sized issues are now collected together, making the main story 170 pages long. They're joined by a brand-new 28-page 'Chefs of Death Summer Special 1986', plus previously digital-only releases: 'The 17 Days After Christmas Special' and the 'Cooking With Zarmdov' E-Book. That's 242 pages of daft jokes about very hungry aliens who invaded the Earth as humans are so tasty.
The graphic novel features an impressive roster of British comics talent. Cameos include John Higgins (Watchmen, The Killing Joke), Boo Cook (Judge Dredd, ElephantMan), Lew Stringer (The Beano, Buster, Doctor Who Magazine), Steve MacManus (2000AD, Action), David Hine (Spider-Man Noir, Bulletproof Coffin), and David Baillie (2000AD).
Acclaimed actor, writer, and comedian Sanjeev Kohli (Still Game, The Peter Serafinowicz Show) doesn't just cameo; he also wrote his own dialogue. Beloved actor Paul Putner (Look Around You) also returns, reprising his character The Curious Orange.
All profits go to charity. The original comic raised £1,235, split between Cancer Research, Mind, and Crisis. The Chefs of Death Graphic Novel will fundraise for the Blue Cross animal charity, which has supported sick, injured, and homeless pets since 1897.
Praise for The Chefs of Death
"It's a lot of fun, with the photo strip adding a great deal of humour to the story - and you'll notice quite a few amusing details hidden in some of the photos too. In short, it's a loving, clever and knowing homage to the brief life of a bleak, photogenic anti-hero – though no knowledge of Doomlord is needed to have fun reading The Chefs of Death." - Jason Brown, MidLifeGamerGeek
"The narrative is genuinely compelling throughout these issues, regardless of how you feel about photo strips. The presentation really emphasises the silly aspects and good humour involved, but the writing of this one sneaks in an entertaining slice of sci-fi. There's loads of great British pop culture references and jokes along with the sublimely simple and daft. It's great absurdist sci-photo-fi for the ages" - Joe Thompson, ComicBookNewsUK
"A bonkers new Kickstarter comic from the brain of Alex Finch and co in the vein of the old 80s photo-strips such as Doomlord etc... Chefs of Death is a crazy satirical read featuring some curious cameos from various folk in the comics industry, myself included. Watch us show them pesky aliens!" Boo Cook (Judge Dredd / Elephantman).
Back The Chefs of Death Graphic Novel on Kickstarter now and help raise money for the Blue Cross.
